Dental Implants Reviewed by Amanda dagnall on "I 1st went to this dentist in September last year, just like millions of other people I’m so very scared of the dentist. Was made very welcome. The dentist I had was so very nice and understanding. We had a talk and decided that dental implants would give me that smile I wanted. I wanted all my teeth out, my choice.

The dentist explained all what I would be having done. I’m not going to lie I was very scared. Many times the tears would start because I’m Frightened, the dentist was very patient with me. So just this week I got my beautiful teeth fitted. What can I say, they have absolutely changed my life.

Honestly I’m over the moon with them, I love them so much. Now when I laugh I don’t have to cover my mouth because my teeth are not nice, I can laugh and smile all day long. If anyone reads this and are thinking about it like I did for a long time, just go and see for yourself what can be done for you.

I follow charisma clinic on Facebook and also on Instagram, I always read what other people put on. Lots of people say they cost to much money and how people should go abroad to get this done, I wouldn’t go abroad myself to have this done. As for people saying it’s to much money, they don’t see all the work that has to be done before you get that beautiful smile.

I also think you would pay lots of money for a car and other nice things so why not spend your money making yourself happy with that beautiful smile. I massive big thank you to charisma for my absolutely beautiful teeth. Amanda 😁😁😁😁"

Your dental implant consultation in Nelson

This treatment is intricate, so an initial assessment needs to be done to ascertain if your existing bone structure can successfully support an implant. Radiographs will be taken to figure out where the implant should be positioned.

Then we will provide you with a treatment plan tailored to your particular situation and requirements.

After your consultation, you'll be better able to decide whether implants are suitable for you.

Our goal is to ensure that you have trust in us, as we give you treatment that is safe, effective and always with your best interests.

Your treatment procedure for dental implants

To start the treatment, we will insert a small screw into your jawbone as a replacement root. The procedure is typically done under local anaesthetic, but intravenous sedation is an alternative option.

The implant will then need time to fuse with the bone however, we will fasten a temporary crown until the implant is secure.

Then, after approximately a few months of the implant setting in place and getting comfortable with its position, you'll be able to get a permanent crown, veneer or denture. When treatment is completes you'll be able to enjoy a new natural-looking smile!

In certain treatment cases, there can be two additional phases which may come into play concerning your dental implant treatment:

Tooth extraction: If any of your neighbouring teeth are causing issues, we can remove it and replace it with an implant.

Bone grafting: If you have insufficient bone in your jaw, we can add a material substance with the same qualities as a natural bone to strengthen the foundation.

No matter the situation, we promise that all patients will achieve true results with our treatments. We will aim to fill your gaps, improve the health of your smile and bring back your self-assurance.

The advantages of dental implants

Implants are just like real teeth, in terms of both appearance and function, plus they don’t require removal the way dentures do.

Their sturdiness and ability to blend in with the natural colour of your other teeth make them an ideal choice and no one will detect the difference.

They can also help you develop a sense of self-assurance and settle your mind so you don’t have to be concerned about the gap in your smile or loose teeth that might fall out.

The jawbone and its tissue will strengthen too and the likelihood of gum disease will be greatly reduced.

With dental implants, you don't have to worry about your teeth slipping and causing mumbling or slurring while speaking. This is unlike dentures which do not fit perfectly and can sometimes cause difficulty when communicating effectively.

And finally you can regain your confidence in eating your favourite dishes with ease and comfort. Dental implants are just like having normal teeth.

Caring for your dental implants

Many people will often see some swelling or bruising around the implant, but this should lessen in two to three days. To bring down any inflammation, we recommend applying an ice pack to your cheek for ten minutes at a time and try sleeping in an upright position, taking the pressure off the implant.

Advice and recommendations:

  • Try to stick to cold drinks after the anaesthetic and wait until it wears off before having food.
  • Refrain from overly strenuous activities, such as exercise and heavy lifting, for the initial 48 hours.
  • We will prescribe antibiotics in order to lower the chances of infection and make sure you adhere to our instructions on when and how to take them. This is vital for gum health and implant success.
  • For the first few days after surgery, avoid brushing the implant area. Then when you feel comfortable, delicately clean it with a toothbrush.
  • Salt-based mouthwashes can be beneficial in the initial stages of recovery but should not be too warm as to injure your mouth.
  • Don’t smoke until the wound has healed as this prolongs the healing process, and can also infect the wound too.
